Dan Carpenter 7b24afbfe3 um: remove a stray tab
Static checkers would urge us to add curly braces to this code, but
actually the code works correctly. It just isn't indented right.

Florian Fainelli 2fb44600fe um: Fix check for _xstate for older hosts
Commit 0a98764567 ("um: Allow building and running on older
hosts") attempted to check for PTRACE_{GET,SET}REGSET under the premise
that these ptrace(2) parameters were directly linked with the presence
of the _xstate structure.

After Richard's commit 61e8d46245 ("um: Correctly check for
PTRACE_GETRESET/SETREGSET") which properly included linux/ptrace.h
instead of asm/ptrace.h, we could get into the original build failure
that I reported:

arch/x86/um/user-offsets.c: In function 'foo':
arch/x86/um/user-offsets.c:54: error: invalid application of 'sizeof' to
incomplete type 'struct _xstate'

On this particular host, we do have PTRACE_GETREGSET and
PTRACE_SETREGSET defined in linux/ptrace.h, but not the structure
_xstate that should be pulled from the following include chain: signal.h
-> bits/sigcontext.h.

Correctly fix this by checking for FP_XSTATE_MAGIC1 which is the correct
way to see if struct _xstate is available or not on the host.

Richard Weinberger 61e8d46245 um: Correctly check for PTRACE_GETRESET/SETREGSET
When checking for PTRACE_GETRESET/SETREGSET, make sure that
the correct header file is included. We need linux/ptrace.h
which contains all ptrace UAPI related defines.
Otherwise #if defined(PTRACE_GETRESET) is always false.

Florian Fainelli 0a98764567 um: Allow building and running on older hosts
Commit a78ff11122 ("um: add extended processor state save/restore
support") and b6024b21fe ("um: extend fpstate to _xstate to support
YMM registers") forced the use of the x86 FP _xstate and
PTRACE_GETREGSET/SETREGSET. On older hosts, we would neither be able to
build UML nor run it anymore with these two commits applied because we
don't have definitions for struct _xstate nor these two ptrace requests.

We can determine at build time which fp context structure to check
against, just like we can keep using the old i387 fp save/restore if
PTRACE_GETRESET/SETREGSET are not defined.

Florian Fainelli f44f1e7da7 um: Avoid longjmp/setjmp symbol clashes with libpthread.a
Building a statically linked UML kernel on a Centos 6.9 host resulted in
the following linking failure (GCC 4.4, glibc-2.12):

/usr/lib/gcc/x86_64-redhat-linux/4.4.7/../../../../lib64/libpthread.a(libpthread.o):
In function `siglongjmp':

Adopt a solution similar to the one done for vmap where we define
longjmp/setjmp to be kernel_longjmp/setjmp. In the process, make sure we
do rename the functions in arch/x86/um/setjmp_*.S accordingly.

Richard Weinberger 9abc74a22d um: Fix PTRACE_POKEUSER on x86_64
This is broken since ever but sadly nobody noticed.
Recent versions of GDB set DR_CONTROL unconditionally and
UML dies due to a heap corruption. It turns out that
the PTRACE_POKEUSER was copy&pasted from i386 and assumes
that addresses are 4 bytes long.

Fix that by using 8 as address size in the calculation.

By using "UD0" for WARN()s we remove the function call and its possible

Total image size will not change much, what we win in the instruction
stream we'll lose because of the __bug_table entries. Still, saves on
I$ footprint and the total image size does go down a bit.

Christian Borntraeger 79ab11cdb9 locking/core: Introduce cpu_relax_yield()
For spinning loops people do often use barrier() or cpu_relax().
For most architectures cpu_relax and barrier are the same, but on
some architectures cpu_relax can add some latency.
For example on power,sparc64 and arc, cpu_relax can shift the CPU
towards other hardware threads in an SMT environment.
On s390 cpu_relax does even more, it uses an hypercall to the
hypervisor to give up the timeslice.
In contrast to the SMT yielding this can result in larger latencies.
In some places this latency is unwanted, so another variant
"cpu_relax_lowlatency" was introduced. Before this is used in more
and more places, lets revert the logic and provide a cpu_relax_yield
that can be called in places where yielding is more important than
latency. By default this is the same as cpu_relax on all architectures.

Linus Torvalds 63ae602cea Merge branch 'gup_flag-cleanups'
Merge the gup_flags cleanups from Lorenzo Stoakes:
"This patch series adjusts functions in the get_user_pages* family such
that desired FOLL_* flags are passed as an argument rather than
  implied by flags.

The purpose of this change is to make the use of FOLL_FORCE explicit
so it is easier to grep for and clearer to callers that this flag is
being used. The use of FOLL_FORCE is an issue as it overrides missing
VM_READ/VM_WRITE flags for the VMA whose pages we are reading
from/writing to, which can result in surprising behaviour.

The patch series came out of the discussion around commit 38e0885465
("mm: check VMA flags to avoid invalid PROT_NONE NUMA balancing"),
which addressed a BUG_ON() being triggered when a page was faulted in
with PROT_NONE set but having been overridden by FOLL_FORCE.
do_numa_page() was run on the assumption the page _must_ be one marked
for NUMA node migration as an actual PROT_NONE page would have been
dealt with prior to this code path, however FOLL_FORCE introduced a
situation where this assumption did not hold.

  See

Lorenzo Stoakes f307ab6dce mm: replace access_process_vm() write parameter with gup_flags
This removes the 'write' argument from access_process_vm() and replaces
it with 'gup_flags' as use of this function previously silently implied
FOLL_FORCE, whereas after this patch callers explicitly pass this flag.

We make this explicit as use of FOLL_FORCE can result in surprising
behaviour (and hence bugs) within the mm subsystem.

This adds support for kcov to UML.

There is a small problem where UML will randomly segfault during boot;
this is because current_thread_info() occasionally returns an invalid

__sanitizer_cov_trace_pc(). I consider this a bug in UML itself and this
patch merely exposes it.

Paul Gortmaker eb008eb6f8 x86: Audit and remove any remaining unnecessary uses of module.h
Historically a lot of these existed because we did not have
a distinction between what was modular code and what was providing
support to modules via EXPORT_SYMBOL and friends. That changed
when we forked out support for the latter into the export.h file.

This means we should be able to reduce the usage of module.h
in code that is obj-y Makefile or bool Kconfig. In the case of
some of these which are modular, we can extend that to also include
files that are building basic support functionality but not related
to loading or registering the final module; such files also have
no need whatsoever for module.h

The advantage in removing such instances is that module.h itself
sources about 15 other headers; adding significantly to what we feed
cpp, and it can obscure what headers we are effectively using.

Since module.h was the source for init.h (for __init) and for
export.h (for EXPORT_SYMBOL) we consider each instance for the
presence of either and replace as needed.

In the case of crypto/glue_helper.c we delete a redundant instance
of MODULE_LICENSE in order to delete module.h -- the license info
is already present at the top of the file.

The uncore change warrants a mention too; it is uncore.c that uses
module.h and not uncore.h; hence the relocation done there.

Eli Cooper a78ff11122 um: add extended processor state save/restore support
This patch extends save_fp_registers() and restore_fp_registers() to use
PTRACE_GETREGSET and PTRACE_SETREGSET with the XSTATE note type, adding
support for new processor state extensions between context switches.

When the new ptrace requests are unavailable, it falls back to the old
PTRACE_GETFPREGS and PTRACE_SETFPREGS methods, which have been renamed to
save_i387_registers() and restore_i387_registers().

Now these functions expect *fp_regs to have the space of an _xstate struct.
Thus, this also makes ptrace in UML responde to PTRACE_GETFPREGS/_SETFPREG
requests with a user_i387_struct (thus independent from HOST_FP_SIZE), and
by calling save_i387_registers() and restore_i387_registers() instead of
the extended save_fp_registers() and restore_fp_registers() functions.

Alexander Duyck 1e94082963 ipv6: Pass proto to csum_ipv6_magic as __u8 instead of unsigned short
This patch updates csum_ipv6_magic so that it correctly recognizes that
protocol is a unsigned 8 bit value.

This will allow us to better understand what limitations may or may not be
present in how we handle the data. For example there are a number of
places that call htonl on the protocol value. This is likely not necessary
and can be replaced with a multiplication by ntohl(1) which will be
converted to a shift by the compiler.

Alexander Duyck 01cfbad79a ipv4: Update parameters for csum_tcpudp_magic to their original types
This patch updates all instances of csum_tcpudp_magic and
csum_tcpudp_nofold to reflect the types that are usually used as the source
inputs. For example the protocol field is populated based on nexthdr which
is actually an unsigned 8 bit value. The length is usually populated based
on skb->len which is an unsigned integer.

This addresses an issue in which the IPv6 function csum_ipv6_magic was
generating a checksum using the full 32b of skb->len while
csum_tcpudp_magic was only using the lower 16 bits. As a result we could
run into issues when attempting to adjust the checksum as there was no
protocol agnostic way to update it.

With this change the value is still truncated as many architectures use
"(len + proto) << 8", however this truncation only occurs for values
greater than 16776960 in length and as such is unlikely to occur as we stop
the inner headers at ~64K in size.

I did have to make a few minor changes in the arm, mn10300, nios2, and
score versions of the function in order to support these changes as they
were either using things such as an OR to combine the protocol and length,
or were using ntohs to convert the length which would have truncated the
value.

I also updated a few spots in terms of whitespace and type differences for
the addresses. Most of this was just to make sure all of the definitions
were in sync going forward.

Andy Lutomirski cfcbadb49d x86/syscalls: Add syscall entry qualifiers
This will let us specify something like 'sys_xyz/foo' instead of
'sys_xyz' in the syscall table, where the 'foo' qualifier conveys
some extra information to the C code.

The intent is to allow things like sys_execve/ptregs to indicate
that sys_execve() touches pt_regs.

Andy Lutomirski 3e65654e3d x86/syscalls: Move compat syscall entry handling into syscalltbl.sh
Rather than duplicating the compat entry handling in all
consumers of syscalls_BITS.h, handle it directly in
syscalltbl.sh. Now we generate entries in syscalls_32.h like:

__SYSCALL_I386(5, sys_open)
__SYSCALL_I386(5, compat_sys_open)

and all of its consumers implicitly get the right entry point.

Andy Lutomirski 32324ce15e x86/syscalls: Remove __SYSCALL_COMMON and __SYSCALL_X32
The common/64/x32 distinction has no effect other than
determining which kernels actually support the syscall. Move
the logic into syscalltbl.sh.

Michael S. Tsirkin 577f183acc x86/um: reuse asm-generic/barrier.h
On x86/um CONFIG_SMP is never defined. As a result, several macros
match the asm-generic variant exactly. Drop the local definitions and
pull in asm-generic/barrier.h instead.

This is in preparation to refactoring this code area.
