ASoC: rockchip: Make RK3328 GPIO_MUTE control explicit
The RK3328 reference design uses an external line driver IC as a buffer
on the analog codec output, enabled by the GPIO_MUTE pin, and such a
configuration is currently assumed in the codec driver's direct poking
of GRF_SOC_CON10 to control the GPIO_MUTE output value. However, some
boards wire up analog audio yet use that pin for some other purpose, so
that assumption doesn't always hold. Update this functionality to rely
on an explicit GPIO descriptor, such that it can be managed at the
board level.

ASoC: soc-pcm: merge playback/cature_active into stream_active
DAI has playback_active and capture_active to care usage count.
OTOH, we have SNDRV_PCM_STREAM_PLAYBACK/CAPTURE.
But because of this kind of implementation mismatch,
ALSA SoC has many verbose code.

To solve this issue, this patch merge playback_active/capture_active
into stream_active[2];

ASoC: rt5682: Add CCF usage for providing I2S clks
There is a need to use RT5682 as DAI clock master for other codecs
within a platform, which means that the DAI clocks are required to
remain, regardless of whether the RT5682 is actually running
playback/capture.

The RT5682 CCF basic functions are implemented almost by the existing
internal functions and asoc apis. It needs a clk provider (rt5682 mclk)
to generate the bclk and wclk outputs.

The RT5682 CCF supports and restricts as below:
1. Fmt of DAI-AIF1 must be configured to master before using CCF.
2. Only accept a 48MHz clk as the clk provider.
3. Only provide a 48kHz wclk and a set of multiples of wclk as bclk.

There are some temporary limitations in this patch until a better
implementation.

ASoC: max98357a: move control of SD_MODE to DAPM
Some machine may share the same I2S lines for multiple codecs. For
example, mediatek/mt8183/mt8183-da7219-max98357 shares the same lines
between max98357a and da7219. When writing audio data through the I2S
lines, all codecs on the lines would try to generate sound if they
accepts DO line. As a result, multiple codecs generate sound at a
time.

Moves control of SD_MODE to DAPM so that machine drivers have chances
to manipulate DAPM widget to turn on/off max98357a.

ASoC: wm0010: Replace zero-length array with flexible-array member
The current codebase makes use of the zero-length array language
extension to the C90 standard, but the preferred mechanism to declare
variable-length types such as these ones is a flexible array member[1][2],
introduced in C99:

struct foo {
        int stuff;
        struct boo array[];
};

By making use of the mechanism above, we will get a compiler warning
in case the flexible array does not occur last in the structure, which
will help us prevent some kind of undefined behavior bugs from being
inadvertenly introduced[3] to the codebase from now on.

This issue was found with the help of Coccinelle.

ASoC: Use imply for SND_SOC_ALL_CODECS
Currently SND_SOC_ALL_CODECS selects the config symbols for all codec
drivers. As "select" bypasses dependencies, lots of "select" statements
need explicit dependencies, which are hard to get right, and hard to
maintain[*].

Fix this by using "imply" instead, which is a weak version of "select",
and which obeys dependencies of target symbols.

Add dependencies to invisible symbols that are currently selected only
if their dependencies are fulfilled.

ASoC: max98090: silence lockdep warning
Commit 08df0d9a00 ("ASoC: max98090: revert "ASoC: max98090: fix lockdep

SHDN register access. However it restored the lockdep warning during the
system boot. To silence the lockdep warning, mark the mutex taken in the
max98090_shdn_save() function with the lockdep class dedicated for the
runtime DAPM operations: SND_SOC_DAPM_CLASS_RUNTIME. This finally fixes
the following lockdep warning observed on Exynos4412-based Odroid U3

Commit 62d5ae4caf ("ASoC: max98090: save and restore SHDN when

ASoC: max98090: revert "ASoC: max98090: fix lockdep warning"
Commit 2dc98af62c ("ASoC: max98090: fix lockdep warning") introduced
a helpful-less small lock: shdn_lock. Reverts the commit.

Reasons:

1. Lockdep should not be happy by either the original or current code.
From lockdep's point of view, there is a lock inversion anyway.

Let d = dapm_mutex, c = controls_rwsem, s = shdn_lock,

From the reported calling stack: lock acquisition order of
snd_soc_register_card() is: d -> c.
> snd_ctl_add_replace+0x3c/0x84
> dapm_create_or_share_kcontrol+0x24c/0x2e0
> snd_soc_dapm_new_widgets+0x308/0x594
> snd_soc_bind_card+0x80c/0xad4
> devm_snd_soc_register_card+0x34/0x6c

If calling snd_soc_dapm_put_enum_double() in kcontrol's put (e.g.
SOC_DAPM_ENUM_EXT), lock acquisition order is: c -> d. Note that,
snd_soc_dapm_put_enum_double() acquires d.

The possible lock inversion is always there if registering sound card
and putting mixer control happen at the same time. In fact, it never
happens because the control device don't show up to the userspace until
the sound card build success.

Commit 2dc98af62c ("ASoC: max98090: fix lockdep warning") changes the
order to: c -> s -> d. The lock inversion is still there.

2. Commit 62d5ae4caf ("ASoC: max98090: save and restore SHDN when
changing sensitive registers SHDN bit") designed to use dapm_mutex to
protect SHDN bit. Use a separate lock breaks the protection.

DAPM changes SHDN bit automatically when it finds the path. Thus, any

ASoC: msm8916-wcd-analog: Add MIC BIAS Internal3
PM8916 has three TX inputs that each have an (optional) internal
RBIAS resistor. MIC BIAS Internal1/2 (for TX1/2) are already supported.
TX3 does not have its own MIC BIAS supply, instead it is also supplied
from MIC_BIAS1.

Now that we have simplified the MIC BIAS Internal* implementation
we can easily add support for it:

Add a MIC BIAS Internal3 supply that enables the internal RBIAS
resistor on TX3, and make sure to also enable the MIC_BIAS1 supply.

Stephan Gerhold 65fe457e7b
ASoC: msm8916-wcd-analog: Simplify MIC BIAS Internal
At the moment, MIC BIAS Internal* and MIC BIAS External* both reference
the same register, and have a part of their initialization sequence
duplicated.

For example, the sequence for enabling MIC BIAS Internal1 is:
  I1. Enable MIC_BIAS1 supply (MICB_EN bit in CDC_A_MICB_1_EN)
  I2. Enable internal RBIAS (TX1_INT_RBIAS_EN bit in CDC_A_MICB_1_INT_RBIAS)

The sequence for enabling MIC BIAS External1 is:
  E1. Enable MIC_BIAS1 supply (MICB_EN bit in CDC_A_MICB_1_EN)
  (E2. Ideally, make sure internal RBIAS is disabled. However, this should
   not happen in practice because DAPM will disable unused supplies...)

Right now we have:
  SND_SOC_DAPM_SUPPLY("MIC BIAS Internal1", CDC_A_MICB_1_EN, 7, 0, ...) // I1
  SND_SOC_DAPM_SUPPLY("MIC BIAS External1", CDC_A_MICB_1_EN, 7, 0, ...) // E1
and I2 is done in the PM event handler (pm8916_wcd_analog_enable_micbias_int1).

We can simplify this by defining a common DAPM supply for I1/E1 ("MIC_BIAS1"),
and one DAPM supply for I2 ("MIC BIAS Internal1"). Additional DAPM routes
ensure that we also enable the MIC_BIAS1 supply for the internal and external
pull up resistor.

Another advantage of this is that we now disable the internal RBIAS
when it is not needed. This makes it much easier to add support for
MIC BIAS Internal3 as a next step.

Marek Vasut 06bf8ea4f8
ASoC: sgtl5000: add multi endpoint support
Support multiple endpoints on SGTL5000 codec port when used in
of_graph context.

This patch allows to share the codec port between two CPU DAIs.

Example:

Custom STM32MP157C board uses SGTL5000 audio codec. This codec is
connected to two serial audio interfaces, which are configured
either as rx or tx.

From AsoC point of view the topolgy is the following:
// 2 CPU DAIs (SAI2A/B), 1 Codec (SGTL5000)
Playback: CPU-A-DAI(slave) -> (master)CODEC-DAI/port0
Record:   CPU-B-DAI(slave) <- (master)CODEC-DAI/port0

In the DT two endpoints have to be associated to the codec port:
sgtl5000_port: port {
    sgtl5000_tx_endpoint: endpoint@0 {
	    remote-endpoint = <&sai2a_endpoint>;
    };
    sgtl5000_rx_endpoint: endpoint@1 {
	    remote-endpoint = <&sai2b_endpoint>;
    };
};

However, when the audio graph card parses the codec nodes, it expects
to find DAI interface indexes matching the endpoints indexes.

The current patch forces the use of DAI id 0 for both endpoints,
which allows to share the codec DAI between the two CPU DAIs
for playback and capture streams respectively.

ASoC: msm8916-wcd-digital: Reset RX interpolation path after use
For some reason, attempting to route audio through QDSP6 on MSM8916
causes the RX interpolation path to get "stuck" after playing audio
a few times. In this situation, the analog codec part is still working,
but the RX path in the digital codec stops working, so you only hear
the analog parts powering up. After a reboot everything works again.

So far I was not able to reproduce the problem when using lpass-cpu.

The downstream kernel driver avoids this by resetting the RX
interpolation path after use. In mainline we do something similar
for the TX decimator (LPASS_CDC_CLK_TX_RESET_B1_CTL), but the
interpolator reset (LPASS_CDC_CLK_RX_RESET_CTL) got lost when the
msm8916-wcd driver was split into analog and digital.

Fix this problem by adding the reset to

MIC BIAS External1 sets pm8916_wcd_analog_enable_micbias_ext1()
as event handler, which ends up in pm8916_wcd_analog_enable_micbias_ext().

But pm8916_wcd_analog_enable_micbias_ext() only handles the POST_PMU

This means that the code in the event handler is never actually run.

Set SND_SOC_DAPM_POST_PMU as the only event for the handler to fix this.

ASoC: max98090: fix lockdep warning
Commit 62d5ae4caf ("ASoC: max98090: save and restore SHDN when changing
sensitive registers") extended the code for handling many controls by
adding a custom put function to them. That new custom put function
properly handles relations between codec's hardware registers. However
they used card->dapm_mutex to properly serialize those operations. This
in turn triggers a lockdep warning about possible circular dependency.
Fix this by introducing a separate mutex only for serializing the SHDN
hardware register related operations.

This fixes the following lockdep warning observed on Exynos4412-based

ASoC: wcd934x: add support to wcd9340/wcd9341 codec
Qualcomm WCD9340/WCD9341 Codec is a standalone Hi-Fi audio codec IC,
It supports both I2S/I2C and SLIMbus audio interfaces.
On slimbus interface it supports two data lanes; 16 Tx ports
and 8 Rx ports. It has Five DACs and seven dedicated interpolators,
Seven (six audio ADCs, and one VBAT ADC), Multibutton headset
control (MBHC), Active noise cancellation, Sidetone paths,
MAD (mic activity detection) and codec processing engine.
It supports Class-H differential earpiece out and stereo single
ended headphones out.
This codec also has integrated SoundWire controller.

This patchset adds very basic support for playback and capture
via the interpolators and ADC respectively.

ASoC: max98090: fix possible race conditions
max98090_interrupt() and max98090_pll_work() run in 2 different threads.
There are 2 possible races:

Note: M98090_REG_DEVICE_STATUS = 0x01.
Note: ULK == 0, PLL is locked; ULK == 1, PLL is unlocked.

max98090_interrupt      max98090_pll_work
----------------------------------------------
schedule max98090_pll_work
                        restart max98090 codec
receive ULK INT
                        assert ULK == 0
schedule max98090_pll_work (1).

In the case (1), the PLL is locked but max98090_interrupt unnecessarily
schedules another max98090_pll_work.

max98090_interrupt      max98090_pll_work      max98090 codec
----------------------------------------------------------------------
                                               ULK = 1
receive ULK INT
read 0x01
                                               ULK = 0 (clear on read)
schedule max98090_pll_work
                        restart max98090 codec
                                               ULK = 1
receive ULK INT
read 0x01
                                               ULK = 0 (clear on read)
                        read 0x01
                        assert ULK == 0 (2).

In the case (2), both max98090_interrupt and max98090_pll_work read
the same clear-on-read register. max98090_pll_work would falsely
thought PLL is locked.
Note: the case (2) race is introduced by the previous commit ("ASoC:
max98090: exit workaround earlier if PLL is locked") to check the status
and exit the loop earlier in max98090_pll_work.

There are 2 possible solution options:
A. turn off ULK interrupt before scheduling max98090_pll_work; and turn
on again before exiting max98090_pll_work.
B. remove the second thread of execution.

Option A cannot fix the case (2) race because it still has 2 threads
access the same clear-on-read register simultaneously. Although we
could suppose the register is volatile and read the status via I2C could
be much slower than the hardware raises the bits.

Option B introduces a maximum 10~12 msec penalty delay in the interrupt
handler. However, it could only punish the jack detection by extra
10~12 msec.

ASoC: max98090: remove msleep in PLL unlocked workaround
It was observed Baytrail-based chromebooks could cause continuous PLL
unlocked when using playback stream and capture stream simultaneously.
Specifically, starting a capture stream after started a playback stream.
As a result, the audio data could corrupt or turn completely silent.

As the datasheet suggested, the maximum PLL lock time should be 7 msec.
The workaround resets the codec softly by toggling SHDN off and on if
PLL failed to lock for 10 msec. Notably, there is no suggested hold
time for SHDN off.

On Baytrail-based chromebooks, it would easily happen continuous PLL
unlocked if there is a 10 msec delay between SHDN off and on. Removes
the msleep().

The irq is disabled at suspend to avoid running the threaded irq
handler after the codec has been powered off. At resume, codec irq is
re-enabled and the interrupt status register is checked to see if

There is still a chance that the headphone gets enabled or disabled
after the codec is suspended. disable_irq syncs the threaded irq
handler, but soc-jack's threaded irq handler schedules a delayed
work to poll gpios (for debounce). This is still OK. The codec won't
be powered back on again because all audio paths have been suspended,

The codec dies when RT5677_PWR_ANLG2(MX-64h) is set to 0xACE1

on PLL2 (MX-64 bit 8) when SPI streaming starts. However regmap
does not believe that register can change by itself. When

read the register first before write, so PLL2 power bit is
cleared by accident.

ASoC: hdac_hda: fix race in device removal
When ASoC card instance is removed containing a HDA codec,
hdac_hda_codec_remove() may run in parallel with codec resume.
This will cause problems if the HDA link is freed with
snd_hdac_ext_bus_link_put() while the codec is still in
middle of its resume process.

To fix this, change the order such that pm_runtime_disable()
is called before the link is freed. This will ensure any
pending runtime PM action is completed before proceeding
to free the link.

This issue can be easily hit with e.g. SOF driver by loading and

Ben Zhang a0e0d13542
ASoC: rt5677: Add a PCM device for streaming hotword via SPI
This patch implements a PCM interface for streaming hotword
phrases over SPI. Userspace can open the PCM device at anytime.
The stream is blocked when no hotword is detected. The mic
audio buffer on the DSP is a ~128KByte ring buffer that holds
~4sec of audio samples recorded from the DMIC (S16_LE, mono,
16KHz). After a hotword is detected, previous 2 seconds of audio
(containing the detected hotword) is streamed first, then live
capture continues until userspace closes the PCM stream.

When transferring, copy one period at a time then call
snd_pcm_period_elapsed(). This reduces the latency of transferring
the initial ~2sec of audio after hotword detect since audio samples
are available for userspace earlier.

According to the PM8916 Hardware Register Description,
CDC_D_CDC_CONN_HPHR_DAC_CTL has only a single bit (RX_SEL)
to switch between RX1 (0) and RX2 (1). It is not possible to
disable it entirely to achieve the "ZERO" state.

However, at the moment the "RDAC2 MUX" mixer defines three possible
values ("ZERO", "RX2" and "RX1"). Setting the mixer to "ZERO"
actually configures it to RX1. Setting the mixer to "RX1" has
(seemingly) no effect.

Remove "ZERO" and replace it with "RX1" to fix this.

ASOC: Add ADAU7118 8 Channel PDM-to-I2S/TDM Converter driver
This patch adds support for the 8 channel PDM-to-I2S/TDM converter. The
ADAU7118 converts four stereo pulse density modulation (PDM) bitstreams
into one pulse code modulation (PCM) output stream. The source for the PDM
data can be eight microphones or other PDM sources. The PCM audio data is
output on a serial audio interface port in either inter-IC serial (I2S) or
time domain multiplexed (TDM) format.
