If the server returns NFS4ERR_OLD_STATEID in response to our delegreturn,
we want to sync to the most recent seqid for the delegation stateid. However
if we are already at the most recent, we have two possibilities:
- an OPEN reply is still outstanding and will return a new seqid
- an earlier OPEN reply was dropped on the floor due to a timeout.
In the latter case, we may end up unable to complete the delegreturn,
so we want to bump the seqid to a value greater than the cached value.
While this may cause us to lose the delegation in the former case,
it should now be safe to assume that the client will replay the OPEN
if necessary in order to get a new valid stateid.

NFSv2, v3 and NFSv4 servers often have duplicate replay caches that look
at the source port when deciding whether or not an RPC call is a replay
of a previous call. This requires clients to perform strange TCP gymnastics
in order to ensure that when they reconnect to the server, they bind
to the same source port.
NFSv4.1 and NFSv4.2 have sessions that provide proper replay semantics,
that do not look at the source port of the connection. This patch therefore
ensures they can ignore the rebind requirement.

In the years since the max readahead size was fixed in NFS, a number of
things have happened:
- Users can now set the value directly using /sys/class/bdi
- NFS max supported block sizes have increased by several orders of
magnitude from 64K to 1MB.
- Disk access latencies are orders of magnitude faster due to SSD + NVME.
In particular note that if the server is advertising 1MB as the optimal
read size, as that will set the readahead size to 15MB.
Let's therefore adjust down, and try to default to VM_READAHEAD_PAGES.
However let's inform the VM about our preferred block size so that it
can choose to round up in cases where that makes sense.

This reverts commit be4c2d4723.
That commit caused a severe memory leak in nfs_readdir_make_qstr().
When listing a directory with more than 100 files (this is how many
struct nfs_cache_array_entry elements fit in one 4kB page), all
allocated file name strings past those 100 leak.
The root of the leakage is that those string pointers are managed in
pages which are never linked into the page cache.
fs/nfs/dir.c puts pages into the page cache by calling
read_cache_page(); the callback function nfs_readdir_filler() will
then fill the given page struct which was passed to it, which is
already linked in the page cache (by do_read_cache_page() calling
add_to_page_cache_lru()).
Commit be4c2d4723 added another (local) array of allocated pages, to
be filled with more data, instead of discarding excess items received
from the NFS server. Those additional pages can be used by the next
nfs_readdir_filler() call (from within the same nfs_readdir() call).
The leak happens when some of those additional pages are never used
(copied to the page cache using copy_highpage()). The pages will be
freed by nfs_readdir_free_pages(), but their contents will not. The
commit did not invoke nfs_readdir_clear_array() (and doing so would
have been dangerous, because it did not track which of those pages
were already copied to the page cache, risking double free bugs).
How to reproduce the leak:
- Use a kernel with CONFIG_SLUB_DEBUG_ON.
- Create a directory on a NFS mount with more than 100 files with
names long enough to use the "kmalloc-32" slab (so we can easily
look up the allocation counts):
for i in `seq 110`; do touch ${i}_0123456789abcdef; done
- Drop all caches:
echo 3 >/proc/sys/vm/drop_caches
- Check the allocation counter:
grep nfs_readdir /sys/kernel/slab/kmalloc-32/alloc_calls
30564391 nfs_readdir_add_to_array+0x73/0xd0 age=534558/4791307/6540952 pid=370-1048386 cpus=0-47 nodes=0-1
- Request a directory listing and check the allocation counters again:
ls
[...]
grep nfs_readdir /sys/kernel/slab/kmalloc-32/alloc_calls
30564511 nfs_readdir_add_to_array+0x73/0xd0 age=207/4792999/6542663 pid=370-1048386 cpus=0-47 nodes=0-1
There are now 120 new allocations.
- Drop all caches and check the counters again:
echo 3 >/proc/sys/vm/drop_caches
grep nfs_readdir /sys/kernel/slab/kmalloc-32/alloc_calls
30564401 nfs_readdir_add_to_array+0x73/0xd0 age=735/4793524/6543176 pid=370-1048386 cpus=0-47 nodes=0-1
110 allocations are gone, but 10 have leaked and will never be freed.
Unhelpfully, those allocations are explicitly excluded from KMEMLEAK,
that's why my initial attempts with KMEMLEAK were not successful:
/*
* Avoid a kmemleak false positive. The pointer to the name is stored
* in a page cache page which kmemleak does not scan.
*/
kmemleak_not_leak(string->name);
It would be possible to solve this bug without reverting the whole
commit:
- keep track of which pages were not used, and call
nfs_readdir_clear_array() on them, or
- manually link those pages into the page cache
But for now I have decided to just revert the commit, because the real
fix would require complex considerations, risking more dangerous
(crash) bugs, which may seem unsuitable for the stable branches.

Pull copy_file_range updates from Darrick Wong:
"This fixes numerous parameter checking problems and inconsistent
behaviors in the new(ish) copy_file_range system call.
Now the system call will actually check its range parameters
correctly; refuse to copy into files for which the caller does not
have sufficient privileges; update mtime and strip setuid like file
writes are supposed to do; and allows copying up to the EOF of the
source file instead of failing the call like we used to.
Summary:
- Create a generic copy_file_range handler and make individual
filesystems responsible for calling it (i.e. no more assuming that
do_splice_direct will work or is appropriate)
- Refactor copy_file_range and remap_range parameter checking where
they are the same
- Install missing copy_file_range parameter checking(!)
- Remove suid/sgid and update mtime like any other file write
- Change the behavior so that a copy range crossing the source file's
eof will result in a short copy to the source file's eof instead of
EINVAL
- Permit filesystems to decide if they want to handle
cross-superblock copy_file_range in their local handlers"

I noticed that NFS status values stopped working again.
trace_print_symbols_seq() takes an unsigned long. Passing a negative
errno or negative NFSERR value just confuses it, and since we're
using C macros here and not static inline functions, all bets are
off due to implicit type conversion.
Straight-line the calling conventions so that error codes are stored
in the trace record as positive values in an unsigned long field,
mapped to symbolic as an unsigned long, and displayed as a negative
value, to continue to enable grepping on "error=-".
It's often the case that an error value that is positive is a byte
count but when it's negative, it's an error (e.g. nfs4_write). Fix
those cases so that the value that is eventually stored in the
error field is a positive NFS status or errno, or zero.

"This changes the permissions model used by keys and keyrings to be
based on an internal ACL by the following means:
- Replace the permissions mask internally with an ACL that contains a
list of ACEs, each with a specific subject with a permissions mask.
Potted default ACLs are available for new keys and keyrings.
ACE subjects can be macroised to indicate the UID and GID specified
on the key (which remain). Future commits will be able to add
additional subject types, such as specific UIDs or domain
tags/namespaces.
Also split a number of permissions to give finer control. Examples
include splitting the revocation permit from the change-attributes
permit, thereby allowing someone to be granted permission to revoke
a key without allowing them to change the owner; also the ability
to join a keyring is split from the ability to link to it, thereby
stopping a process accessing a keyring by joining it and thus
acquiring use of possessor permits.
- Provide a keyctl to allow the granting or denial of one or more
permits to a specific subject. Direct access to the ACL is not

Pull keyring namespacing from David Howells:
"These patches help make keys and keyrings more namespace aware.
Firstly some miscellaneous patches to make the process easier:
- Simplify key index_key handling so that the word-sized chunks
assoc_array requires don't have to be shifted about, making it
easier to add more bits into the key.
- Cache the hash value in the key so that we don't have to calculate
on every key we examine during a search (it involves a bunch of
multiplications).
- Allow keying_search() to search non-recursively.
Then the main patches:
- Make it so that keyring names are per-user_namespace from the point
of view of KEYCTL_JOIN_SESSION_KEYRING so that they're not
accessible cross-user_namespace.
keyctl_capabilities() shows KEYCTL_CAPS1_NS_KEYRING_NAME for this.
- Move the user and user-session keyrings to the user_namespace
rather than the user_struct. This prevents them propagating
directly across user_namespaces boundaries (ie. the KEY_SPEC_*
flags will only pick from the current user_namespace).
- Make it possible to include the target namespace in which the key
shall operate in the index_key. This will allow the possibility of
multiple keys with the same description, but different target
domains to be held in the same keyring.
keyctl_capabilities() shows KEYCTL_CAPS1_NS_KEY_TAG for this.
- Make it so that keys are implicitly invalidated by removal of a
domain tag, causing them to be garbage collected.
- Institute a network namespace domain tag that allows keys to be
differentiated by the network namespace in which they operate. New
keys that are of a type marked 'KEY_TYPE_NET_DOMAIN' are assigned
the network domain in force when they are created.
- Make it so that the desired network namespace can be handed down
into the request_key() mechanism. This allows AFS, NFS, etc. to
request keys specific to the network namespace of the superblock.
This also means that the keys in the DNS record cache are
thenceforth namespaced, provided network filesystems pass the
appropriate network namespace down into dns_query().
For DNS, AFS and NFS are good, whilst CIFS and Ceph are not. Other
cache keyrings, such as idmapper keyrings, also need to set the
domain tag - for which they need access to the network namespace of
the superblock"

violated, and that the file or directory has been changed on the

The reason we don't do an immediate cache invalidation is that we
want to avoid performance problems due to false positives. Also,
note that we cannot guarantee cache consistency in this situation

According to the open() manpage, Linux reserves the access mode 3
to mean "check for read and write permission on the file and return
a file descriptor that can't be used for reading or writing."
Currently, the NFSv4 code will ask the server to open the file,
and will use an incorrect share access mode of 0. Since it has
an incorrect share access mode, the client later forgets to send
a corresponding close, meaning it can leak stateids on the server.

Replace the uid/gid/perm permissions checking on a key with an ACL to allow
the SETATTR and SEARCH permissions to be split. This will also allow a
greater range of subjects to represented.
============
WHY DO THIS?
============
The problem is that SETATTR and SEARCH cover a slew of actions, not all of
which should be grouped together.
For SETATTR, this includes actions that are about controlling access to a
key:
(1) Changing a key's ownership.
(2) Changing a key's security information.
(3) Setting a keyring's restriction.
And actions that are about managing a key's lifetime:
(4) Setting an expiry time.
(5) Revoking a key.
and (proposed) managing a key as part of a cache:
(6) Invalidating a key.
Managing a key's lifetime doesn't really have anything to do with
controlling access to that key.
Expiry time is awkward since it's more about the lifetime of the content
and so, in some ways goes better with WRITE permission. It can, however,
be set unconditionally by a process with an appropriate authorisation token
for instantiating a key, and can also be set by the key type driver when a
key is instantiated, so lumping it with the access-controlling actions is
probably okay.
As for SEARCH permission, that currently covers:
(1) Finding keys in a keyring tree during a search.
(2) Permitting keyrings to be joined.
(3) Invalidation.
But these don't really belong together either, since these actions really
need to be controlled separately.
Finally, there are number of special cases to do with granting the
administrator special rights to invalidate or clear keys that I would like
to handle with the ACL rather than key flags and special checks.
===============
WHAT IS CHANGED
===============
The SETATTR permission is split to create two new permissions:
(1) SET_SECURITY - which allows the key's owner, group and ACL to be
changed and a restriction to be placed on a keyring.
(2) REVOKE - which allows a key to be revoked.
The SEARCH permission is split to create:
(1) SEARCH - which allows a keyring to be search and a key to be found.
(2) JOIN - which allows a keyring to be joined as a session keyring.
(3) INVAL - which allows a key to be invalidated.
The WRITE permission is also split to create:
(1) WRITE - which allows a key's content to be altered and links to be
added, removed and replaced in a keyring.
(2) CLEAR - which allows a keyring to be cleared completely. This is
split out to make it possible to give just this to an administrator.
(3) REVOKE - see above.
Keys acquire ACLs which consist of a series of ACEs, and all that apply are
unioned together. An ACE specifies a subject, such as:
(*) Possessor - permitted to anyone who 'possesses' a key
(*) Owner - permitted to the key owner
(*) Group - permitted to the key group
(*) Everyone - permitted to everyone
Note that 'Other' has been replaced with 'Everyone' on the assumption that
you wouldn't grant a permit to 'Other' that you wouldn't also grant to
everyone else.
Further subjects may be made available by later patches.
The ACE also specifies a permissions mask. The set of permissions is now:
VIEW Can view the key metadata
READ Can read the key content
WRITE Can update/modify the key content
SEARCH Can find the key by searching/requesting
LINK Can make a link to the key
SET_SECURITY Can change owner, ACL, expiry
INVAL Can invalidate
REVOKE Can revoke
JOIN Can join this keyring
CLEAR Can clear this keyring
The KEYCTL_SETPERM function is then deprecated.
The KEYCTL_SET_TIMEOUT function then is permitted if SET_SECURITY is set,
or if the caller has a valid instantiation auth token.
The KEYCTL_INVALIDATE function then requires INVAL.
The KEYCTL_REVOKE function then requires REVOKE.
The KEYCTL_JOIN_SESSION_KEYRING function then requires JOIN to join an
existing keyring.
The JOIN permission is enabled by default for session keyrings and manually
created keyrings only.
======================
BACKWARD COMPATIBILITY
======================
To maintain backward compatibility, KEYCTL_SETPERM will translate the
permissions mask it is given into a new ACL for a key - unless
KEYCTL_SET_ACL has been called on that key, in which case an error will be
returned.
It will convert possessor, owner, group and other permissions into separate
ACEs, if each portion of the mask is non-zero.
SETATTR permission turns on all of INVAL, REVOKE and SET_SECURITY. WRITE
permission turns on WRITE, REVOKE and, if a keyring, CLEAR. JOIN is turned
on if a keyring is being altered.
The KEYCTL_DESCRIBE function translates the ACL back into a permissions
mask to return depending on possessor, owner, group and everyone ACEs.
It will make the following mappings:
(1) INVAL, JOIN -> SEARCH
(2) SET_SECURITY -> SETATTR
(3) REVOKE -> WRITE if SETATTR isn't already set
(4) CLEAR -> WRITE
Note that the value subsequently returned by KEYCTL_DESCRIBE may not match
the value set with KEYCTL_SETATTR.
=======
TESTING
=======
This passes the keyutils testsuite for all but a couple of tests:
(1) tests/keyctl/dh_compute/badargs: The first wrong-key-type test now
returns EOPNOTSUPP rather than ENOKEY as READ permission isn't removed
if the type doesn't have ->read(). You still can't actually read the
key.
(2) tests/keyctl/permitting/valid: The view-other-permissions test doesn't
work as Other has been replaced with Everyone in the ACL.

d_delete() was piggy backed for the fsnotify_nameremove() hook when
in fact not all callers of d_delete() care about fsnotify events.
For all callers of d_delete() that may be interested in fsnotify events,
we made sure to call one of fsnotify_{unlink,rmdir}() hooks before
calling d_delete().
Now we can move the fsnotify_nameremove() call from d_delete() to the
fsnotify_{unlink,rmdir}() hooks.
Two explicit calls to fsnotify_nameremove() from nfs/afs sillyrename
are also removed. This will cause a change of behavior - nfs/afs will
NOT generate an fsnotify delete event when renaming over a positive
dentry. This change is desirable, because it is consistent with the
behavior of all other filesystems.

We want to enable cross-filesystem copy_file_range functionality
where possible, so push the "same superblock only" checks down to
the individual filesystem callouts so they can make their own
decisions about cross-superblock copy offload and fallack to
generic_copy_file_range() for cross-superblock copy.
[Amir] We do not call ->remap_file_range() in case the files are not
on the same sb and do not call ->copy_file_range() in case the files
do not belong to the same filesystem driver.
This changes behavior of the copy_file_range(2) syscall, which will
now allow cross filesystem in-kernel copy. CIFS already supports
cross-superblock copy, between two shares to the same server. This
functionality will now be available via the copy_file_range(2) syscall.

SUNRPC fix regression in umount of a secure mount
xprtrdma: Use struct_size() in kzalloc()
When a waiter is waked by CB_NOTIFY_LOCK, it will retry
nfs4_proc_setlk(). The waiter may fail to nfs4_proc_setlk() and sleep
again. However, the waiter is already removed from clp->cl_lock_waitq
when handling CB_NOTIFY_LOCK in nfs4_wake_lock_waiter(). So any
subsequent CB_NOTIFY_LOCK won't wake this waiter anymore. We should
put the waiter back to clp->cl_lock_waitq before retrying.

Commit b7dbcc0e43 "NFSv4.1: Fix a race where CB_NOTIFY_LOCK fails to wake a waiter"
found this bug. However it didn't fix it.
This commit replaces schedule_timeout() with wait_woken() and
default_wake_function() with woken_wake_function() in function
nfs4_retry_setlk() and nfs4_wake_lock_waiter(). wait_woken() uses
memory barriers in its implementation to avoid potential race condition
when putting a process into sleeping state and then waking it up.

- leak of keys on file close.
- broken error handling in xattr functions.
- missing locking when updating VL server list.
- volume location server DNS lookup whereby preloaded cells may not
ever get a lookup and regular DNS lookups to maintain server lists
consume power unnecessarily.
- incorrect error propagation and handling in the fileserver
iteration code causes operations to sometimes apparently succeed.
- interruption of server record check/update side op during
fileserver iteration causes uninterruptible main operations to fail
unexpectedly.
- callback promise expiry time miscalculation.
- over invalidation of the callback promise on directories.
- double locking on callback break waking up file locking waiters.
- double increment of the vnode callback break counter.
Note that it makes some changes outside of the afs code, including:
- an extra parameter to dns_query() to allow the dns_resolver key
just accessed to be immediately invalidated. AFS is caching the
results itself, so the key can be discarded.
- an interruptible version of wait_var_event().
- an rxrpc function to allow the maximum lifespan to be set on a

Scott Mayhew revived an old api that communicates with a userspace
daemon to manage some on-disk state that's used to track clients across
server reboots. We've been using a usermode_helper upcall for that, but
it's tough to run those with the right namespaces, so a daemon is much
friendlier to container use cases.
Trond fixed nfsd's handling of user credentials in user namespaces. He
also contributed patches that allow containers to support different sets
of NFS protocol versions.
The only remaining container bug I'm aware of is that the NFS reply
cache is shared between all containers. If anyone's aware of other gaps
in our container support, let me know.
The rest of this is miscellaneous bugfixes.

When the server is stopped, the state manager will work, and accord

will drain the slot table and lead other task to wait queue, until

When the client is reading or writing using pNFS, and hits an error
on the DS, then it typically sends a LAYOUTERROR and/or LAYOUTRETURN
to the MDS, before redirtying the failed pages, and going for a new
round of reads/writebacks. The problem is that if the server has no
way to fix the DS, then we may need a way to interrupt this loop
after a set number of attempts have been made.
This patch adds an optional module parameter that allows the admin
to specify how many times to retry the read/writeback process before
failing with a fatal error.
The default behaviour is to retry forever.

syzbot is reporting uninitialized value at rpc_sockaddr2uaddr() [1]. This
is because syzbot is setting AF_INET6 to "struct sockaddr_in"->sin_family
(which is embedded into user-visible "struct nfs_mount_data" structure)
despite nfs23_validate_mount_data() cannot pass sizeof(struct sockaddr_in6)
bytes of AF_INET6 address to rpc_sockaddr2uaddr().
Since "struct nfs_mount_data" structure is user-visible, we can't change
"struct nfs_mount_data" to use "struct sockaddr_storage". Therefore,
assuming that everybody is using AF_INET family when passing address via
"struct nfs_mount_data"->addr, reject if its sin_family is not AF_INET.

Currently support for 64-bit sector_t and blkcnt_t is optional on 32-bit
architectures. These types are required to support block device and/or
file sizes larger than 2 TiB, and have generally defaulted to on for
a long time. Enabling the option only increases the i386 tinyconfig
size by 145 bytes, and many data structures already always use
64-bit values for their in-core and on-disk data structures anyway,
so there should not be a large change in dynamic memory usage either.
Dropping this option removes a somewhat weird non-default config that
has cause various bugs or compiler warnings when actually used.

A 'false retry' in NFSv4.1 occurs when the client attempts to transmit a
new RPC call using a slot+sequence number combination that references an
already cached one. Currently, the Linux NFS client will do this if a
user process interrupts an RPC call that is in progress.
The problem with doing so is that we defeat the main mechanism used by
the server to differentiate between a new call and a replayed one. Even
if the server is able to perfectly cache the arguments of the old call,
it cannot know if the client intended to replay or send a new call.
The obvious fix is to bump the sequence number pre-emptively if an
RPC call is interrupted, but in order to deal with the corner cases
where the interrupted call is not actually received and processed by
the server, we need to interpret the error NFS4ERR_SEQ_MISORDERED
as a sign that we need to either wait or locate a correct sequence
number that lies between the value we sent, and the last value that
was acked by a SEQUENCE call on that slot.

As the block and SCSI layouts can only read/write fixed-length
blocks, we must perform read-modify-write when data to be written is
not aligned to a block boundary or smaller than the block size.
(612aa983a0 pnfs: add flag to force read-modify-write in ->write_begin)
The current code tries to see if we have to do read-modify-write
on block-oriented pNFS layouts by just checking !PageUptodate(page),
but the same condition also applies for overwriting of any uncached
potions of existing files, making such operations excessively slow
even it is block-aligned.
The change does not affect the optimization for modify-write-read
cases (38c73044f5 NFS: read-modify-write page updating),
because partial update of !PageUptodate() pages can only happen
in layouts that can do arbitrary length read/write and never
in block-based ones.

When listing very large directories via NFS, clients may take a long
time to complete. There are about three factors involved:
First of all, ls and practically every other method of listing a
directory including python os.listdir and find rely on libc readdir().
However readdir() only reads 32K of directory entries at a time, which
means that if you have a lot of files in the same directory, it is going
to take an insanely long time to read all the directory entries.
Secondly, libc readdir() reads 32K of directory entries at a time, in
kernel space 32K buffer split into 8 pages. One NFS readdirplus rpc will
be called for one page, which introduces many readdirplus rpc calls.
Lastly, one NFS readdirplus rpc asks for 32K data (filled by nfs_dentry)
to fill one page (filled by dentry), we found that nearly one third of
data was wasted.
To solve above problems, pagecache mechanism was introduced. One NFS
readdirplus rpc will ask for a large data (more than 32k), the data can
fill more than one page, the cached pages can be used for next readdir
call. This can reduce many readdirplus rpc calls and improve readdirplus
performance.
TESTING:
When listing very large directories(include 300 thousand files) via NFS
time ls -l /nfs_mount | wc -l
without the patch:
300001
real 1m53.524s
user 0m2.314s
sys 0m2.599s
with the patch:
300001
real 0m23.487s
user 0m2.305s
sys 0m2.558s
Improved performance: 79.6%
readdirplus rpc calls decrease: 85%

In the rare and unsupported case of a hostname list nfs_parse_devname
will modify dev_name. There is no need to modify dev_name as the all
that is being computed is the length of the hostname, so the computed

When we fail to add the request to the I/O queue, we currently leave it
to the caller to free the failed request. However since some of the
requests that fail are actually created by nfs_pageio_add_request()
itself, and are not passed back the caller, this leads to a leakage
issue, which can again cause page locks to leak.
This commit addresses the leakage by freeing the created requests on
error, using desc->pg_completion_ops->error_cleanup()

Pull keys fixes from James Morris:
- Handle quotas better, allowing full quota to be reached.
- Fix the creation of shortcuts in the assoc_array internal
representation when the index key needs to be an exact multiple of
the machine word size.
- Fix a dependency loop between the request_key contruction record and
the request_key authentication key. The construction record isn't
really necessary and can be dispensed with.
- Set the timestamp on a new key rather than leaving it as 0. This
would ordinarily be fine - provided the system clock is never set to
a time before 1970
* 'fixes-v5.1-rc6' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/jmorris/linux-security:
keys: Timestamp new keys
keys: Fix dependency loop between construction record and auth key
assoc_array: Fix shortcut creation
KEYS: allow reaching the keys quotas exactly
In the request_key() upcall mechanism there's a dependency loop by which if
a key type driver overrides the ->request_key hook and the userspace side
manages to lose the authorisation key, the auth key and the internal
construction record (struct key_construction) can keep each other pinned.
Fix this by the following changes:
(1) Killing off the construction record and using the auth key instead.
(2) Including the operation name in the auth key payload and making the
payload available outside of security/keys/.
(3) The ->request_key hook is given the authkey instead of the cons
record and operation name.
Changes (2) and (3) allow the auth key to naturally be cleaned up if the
keyring it is in is destroyed or cleared or the auth key is unlinked.

Certain NFS results (eg. READLINK) might expect a data payload that
is not an exact multiple of 4 bytes. In this case, XDR encoding
is required to pad that payload so its length on the wire is a
multiple of 4 bytes. The constants that define the maximum size of
each NFS result do not appear to account for this extra word.
In each case where the data payload is to be received into pages:
- 1 word is added to the size of the receive buffer allocated by
call_allocate
- rpc_inline_rcv_pages subtracts 1 word from @hdrsize so that the
extra buffer space falls into the rcv_buf's tail iovec
- If buf->pagelen is word-aligned, an XDR pad is not needed and
is thus removed from the tail

we delete a file that has been changed in the rdma tree. Hopefully that's
easy enough to resolve!
We also were unable to track down a maintainer for Neil Brown's changes to
the generic cred code that are prerequisites to his RPC cred cleanup patches.
We've been asking around for several months without any response, so
hopefully it's okay to include those patches in this pull request.

Having to specify "proto=rdma,port=20049" is cumbersome.
RFC 8267 Section 6.3 requires NFSv4 clients to use "the alternative
well-known port number", which is 20049. Make the use of the well-
known port number automatic, just as it is for NFS/TCP and port
2049.
For NFSv2/3, Section 4.2 allows clients to simply choose 20049 as
the default or use rpcbind. I don't know of an NFS/RDMA server
implementation that registers it's NFS/RDMA service with rpcbind,
so automatically choosing 20049 seems like the better choice. The
other widely-deployed NFS/RDMA client, Solaris, also uses 20049
as the default port.

totalram_pages and totalhigh_pages are made static inline function.
Main motivation was that managed_page_count_lock handling was complicating
things. It was discussed in length here,
https://lore.kernel.org/patchwork/patch/995739/#1181785 So it seemes
better to remove the lock and convert variables to atomic, with preventing

This patch removes the check from nfs_compare_mount_options to see if a
`sec' option was passed for the current mount before comparing auth
flavors and instead just always compares auth flavors.
Consider the following scenario:
You have a server with the address 192.168.1.1 and two exports /export/a
and /export/b. The first export supports `sys' and `krb5' security, the
second just `sys'.
Assume you start with no mounts from the server.
The following results in EIOs being returned as the kernel nfs client
incorrectly thinks it can share the underlying `struct nfs_server's:
$ mkdir /tmp/{a,b}
$ sudo mount -t nfs -o vers=3,sec=krb5 192.168.1.1:/export/a /tmp/a
$ sudo mount -t nfs -o vers=3 192.168.1.1:/export/b /tmp/b

Keep void * instead, allocate on demand (in parse_str_opts, at the
moment). Eventually both selinux and smack will be better off
with private structures with several strings in those, rather than
this "counter and two pointers to dynamically allocated arrays"
ugliness. This commit allows to do that at leisure, without
disrupting anything outside of given module.
Changes:
* instead of struct security_mnt_opt use an opaque pointer
initialized to NULL.
* security_sb_eat_lsm_opts(), security_sb_parse_opts_str() and
security_free_mnt_opts() take it as var argument (i.e. as void **);
call sites are unchanged.
* security_sb_set_mnt_opts() and security_sb_remount() take
it by value (i.e. as void *).
* new method: ->sb_free_mnt_opts(). Takes void *, does
whatever freeing that needs to be done.
* ->sb_set_mnt_opts() and ->sb_remount() might get NULL as
mnt_opts argument, meaning "empty".

* if mount(2) passes something like "context=foo" with MS_REMOUNT
in flags (/sbin/mount.nfs will _not_ do that - you need to issue
the syscall manually), you'll get leaked copies for LSM options.
The reason is that instead of nfs_{alloc,free}_parsed_mount_data()
nfs_remount() uses kzalloc/kfree, which lacks the needed cleanup.
* selinux options are not changed on remount (as for any other
fs), but in case of NFS the failure is quiet - they are not compared
to what we used to have, with complaint in case of attempted changes.

SUNRPC has two sorts of credentials, both of which appear as
"struct rpc_cred".
There are "generic credentials" which are supplied by clients
such as NFS and passed in 'struct rpc_message' to indicate
which user should be used to authorize the request, and there
are low-level credentials such as AUTH_NULL, AUTH_UNIX, AUTH_GSS
which describe the credential to be sent over the wires.
This patch replaces all the generic credentials by 'struct cred'
pointers - the credential structure used throughout Linux.
For machine credentials, there is a special 'struct cred *' pointer
which is statically allocated and recognized where needed as
having a special meaning. A look-up of a low-level cred will
map this to a machine credential.

Rather than keying the access cache with 'struct rpc_cred',
use 'struct cred'. Then use cred_fscmp() to compare
credentials rather than comparing the raw pointer.
A benefit of this approach is that in the common case we avoid the
rpc_lookup_cred_nonblock() call which can be slow when the cred cache is large.
This also keeps many fewer items pinned in the rpc cred cache, so the
cred cache is less likely to get large.

NFS needs to know when a credential is about to expire so that
it can modify write-back behaviour to finish the write inside the
expiry time.
It currently uses functions in SUNRPC code which make use of a
fairly complex callback scheme and flags in the generic credientials.
As I am working to discard the generic credentials, this has to change.
This patch moves the logic into NFS, in part by finding and caching
the low-level credential in the open_context. We then make direct
cred-api calls on that.
This makes the code much simpler and removes a dependency on generic
rpc credentials.

When NFS creates a machine credential, it is a "generic" credential,
not tied to any auth protocol, and is really just a container for
the princpal name.
This doesn't get linked to a genuine credential until rpcauth_bindcred()
is called.
The lookup always succeeds, so various places that test if the machine
credential is NULL, are pointless.
As a step towards getting rid of generic credentials, this patch gets
rid of generic machine credentials. The nfs_client and rpc_client
just hold a pointer to a constant principal name.
When a machine credential is wanted, a special static 'struct rpc_cred'
pointer is used. rpcauth_bindcred() recognizes this, finds the
principal from the client, and binds the correct credential.

This lock is no longer necessary.
If nfs4_get_renew_cred() needs to hunt through the open-state
creds for a user cred, it still takes the lock to stablize
the rbtree, but otherwise there are no races.
Note that this completely removes the lock from nfs4_renew_state().

long ago, and there is no longer anything to protect.

NFSv4 state management tries a root credential when no machine
credential is available, as can happen with kerberos.
It does this by replacing the cl_machine_cred with a root credential.
This means that any user of the machine credential needs to take
a lock while getting a reference to the machine credential, which is
a little cumbersome.
So introduce an explicit cl_root_cred, and never free either
credential until client shutdown. This means that no locking
is needed to reference these credentials. Future patches
will make use of this.
This is only a temporary addition. both cl_machine_cred and
cl_root_cred will disappear later in the series.

The SUNRPC credential framework was put together before
Linux has 'struct cred'. Now that we have it, it makes sense to
use it.
This first step just includes a suitable 'struct cred *' pointer
in every 'struct auth_cred' and almost every 'struct rpc_cred'.
The rpc_cred used for auth_null has a NULL 'struct cred *' as nothing
else really makes sense.
For rpc_cred, the pointer is reference counted.
For auth_cred it isn't. struct auth_cred are either allocated on
the stack, in which case the thread owns a reference to the auth,
or are part of 'struct generic_cred' in which case gc_base owns the
reference, and "acred" shares it.

Change the remap_file_range functions to take a number of bytes to
operate upon and return the number of bytes they operated on. This is a
requirement for allowing fs implementations to return short clone/dedupe
results to the user, which will enable us to obey resource limits in a
graceful manner.
A subsequent patch will enable copy_file_range to signal to the
->clone_file_range implementation that it can handle a short length,
which will be returned in the function's return value. For now the
short return is not implemented anywhere so the behavior won't change --
either copy_file_range manages to clone the entire range or it tries an

We must check pg_error and call error_cleanup after any call to pg_doio.
Currently, we are skipping the unlock of a page if we encounter an error in
nfs_pageio_complete() before handing off the work to the RPC layer.

Running "./nfstest_delegation --runtest recall26" uncovers that
client doesn't recover the lock when we have an appending open,
where the initial open got a write delegation.
Instead of checking for the passed in open context against
the file lock's open context. Check that the state is the same.

We need to ensure that inode and dentry revalidation occurs correctly
on reopen of a file that is already open. Currently, we can end up
not revalidating either in the case of NFSv4.0, due to the 'cached open'
path.
Let's fix that by ensuring that we only do cached open for the special
cases of open recovery and delegation return.

When the server fails to return post-op attributes, the client's
attempt to place read data directly in the page cache fails, and
so we have to do an extra copy in order to realign the data with
page borders.
This patch attempts to detect servers that don't return post-op
attributes on read (e.g. for pNFS) and adjusts the placement
calculation accordingly.

Most places in the kernel tend to line up cases with the switch to
reduce indentation, so move this over to match that style.
Additionally, I handle the (status >= 0) case in the switch so that we
only "goto restart" from a single place after error handling.

The intention of nfs4_session_set_rwsize() was to cap the r/wsize to the
buffer sizes negotiated by the CREATE_SESSION. The initial code had a
bug whereby we would not check the values negotiated by nfs_probe_fsinfo()
(the assumption being that CREATE_SESSION will always negotiate buffer values
that are sane w.r.t. the server's preferred r/wsizes) but would only check
values set by the user in the 'mount' command.
The code was changed in 4.11 to _always_ set the r/wsize, meaning that we
now never use the server preferred r/wsizes. This is the regression that
this patch fixes.
Also rename the function to nfs4_session_limit_rwsize() in order to avoid
future confusion.

If the RPC call relies on the receive call allocating pages as buffers,
then let's label it so that we
a) Don't leak memory by allocating pages for requests that do not expect
this behaviour
b) Can optimise for the common case where calls do not require allocation.

The previous fix broke recovery of delegated stateids because it assumes
that if we did not mark the delegation as suspect, then the delegation has
effectively been revoked, and so it removes that delegation irrespectively
of whether or not it is valid and still in use. While this is "mostly
harmless" for ordinary I/O, we've seen pNFS fail with LAYOUTGET spinning
in an infinite loop while complaining that we're using an invalid stateid
(in this case the all-zero stateid).
What we rather want to do here is ensure that the delegation is always
correctly marked as needing testing when that is the case. So we want
to close the loophole offered by nfs4_schedule_stateid_recovery(),
which marks the state as needing to be reclaimed, but not the
delegation that may be backing it.
