The i915_debugfs.c has grown more than a little unwieldy. Split out the
display related debugfs code to a file of its own under display/,
initialized with a separate call. No functional changes.

Our current global state handling is pretty ad-hoc. Let's try to
make it better by imitating the standard drm core private object
approach.
The reason why we don't want to directly use the private objects
is locking; Each private object has its own lock so if we
introduce any global private objects we get serialized by that
single lock across all pipes. The global state apporoach instead
uses a read/write lock type of approach where each individual
crtc lock counts as a read lock, and grabbing all the crtc locks
allows one write access.

Add a debugfs subdirectory i915_params with all the i915 module
parameters. This is a first step, with lots of boilerplate, and not much
benefit yet.
This will result in a new device specific debugfs directory at
/sys/kernel/debug/dri/<N>/i915_params duplicating the module specific
sysfs directory at /sys/module/i915/parameters/. Going forward, all
users of the parameters should use the debugfs, with the module
parameters being phased out.
Add debugfs permissions to I915_PARAMS_FOR_EACH(). This duplicates the
mode with module parameter sysfs, but the goal is to make the module
parameters read-only initial values for device specific parameters.
0 mode will bypass debugfs creation. Use it for verbose_state_checks
which will need special attention in follow-up work.

I implemented a small build rule in drivers/gpu/drm/i915/Makefile
without relying on the special header-test-y syntax that was removed in
commit fcbb8461fd ("kbuild: remove header compile test").
I excluded some headers from the test coverage. I hope somebody
intrested can take a closer look at them.
Dummy subdir Makefiles can be removed altogether as single target build
use case is now covered by commit 394053f4a4 ("kbuild: make single
targets work more correctly").

The design of the OA unit has been split into several units. We now
have a global unit (OAG) and a render specific unit (OAR). This leads
to some changes on how we program things. Some details :
OAR:
- has its own set of counter registers, they are per-context
saved/restored
- counters are not written to the circular OA buffer
- a snapshot of the counters can be acquired with
MI_RECORD_PERF_COUNT, or a single counter can be read with
MI_STORE_REGISTER_MEM.
OAG:
- has global counters that increment across context switches
- counters are written into the circular OA buffer (if requested)

i915_irq.c is large. One reason for this is that has a large chunk of
the GT render power management stashed away in it. Extract that logic
out of i915_irq.c and intel_pm.c and put it under one roof.

We currently define LMEM, or local memory, as just another memory
region, like system memory or stolen, which we can expose to userspace
and can be mapped to the CPU via some BAR.

Replace sampling the engine state every so often with a periodic
heartbeat request to measure the health of an engine. This is coupled
with the forced-preemption to allow long running requests to survive so
long as they do not block other users.

To flush idle barriers, and even inflight requests, we want to send a
preemptive 'pulse' along an engine. We use a no-op request along the
pinned kernel_context at high priority so that it should run or else
kick off the stuck requests. We can use this to ensure idle barriers are
immediately flushed, as part of a context cancellation mechanism, or as
part of a heartbeat mechanism to detect and reset a stuck GPU.

Support memory regions, as defined by a given (start, end), and allow
creating GEM objects which are backed by said region. The immediate goal
here is to have something to represent our device memory, but later on
we also want to represent every memory domain with a region, so stolen,
shmem, and of course device. At some point we are probably going to want
use a common struct here, such that we are better aligned with say TTM.

Split out code related to vga switcheroo register/unregister and state
handling from i915_drv.c into new i915_switcheroo.[ch] files.
It's a bit difficult to draw the line how much to move to the new file
from i915_drv.c, but it seemed to me keeping i915_suspend_switcheroo()
and i915_resume_switcheroo() in place was the cleanest.

for DSB engine. The GEM buffer is from global GTT, and is mapped into
CPU domain, contains the data + opcode to be feed to DSB engine.

The <basetarget> is the filename of the target with its directory and
suffix stripped.
This syntax comes into a trouble when two files with the same basename
appear in one Makefile, for example:

obj-y += dir/foo.o
CFLAGS_foo.o := <some-flags>
Here, the <some-flags> applies to both foo.o and dir/foo.o
The real world problem is:
scripts/kconfig/util.c
scripts/kconfig/lxdialog/util.c
Both files are compiled into scripts/kconfig/mconf, but only the
latter should be given with the ncurses flags.
It is more sensible to use the relative path to the Makefile, like this:

is replaced with the stem ('%') part in a pattern rule. This works with
most of cases, but does not for explicit rules.
For example, arch/ia64/lib/Makefile reuses rule_as_o_S in its own
explicit rules, so $* will be empty, resulting in ignoring the per-file
AFLAGS.
I introduced a new variable, target-stem, which can be used also from
explicit rules.

i915_irq.c is large. It serves as the central dispatch and handler for
all of our device interrupts. Pull out the GT pm interrupt handling
(leaving the central dispatch) so that we can encapsulate the logic a
little better.

Simple buddy allocator. We want to allocate properly aligned
power-of-two blocks to promote usage of huge-pages for the GTT, so 64K,
2M and possibly even 1G. While we do support allocating stuff at a
specific offset, it is more intended for preallocating portions of the
address space, say for an initial framebuffer, for other uses drm_mm is
probably a much better fit. Anyway, hopefully this can all be thrown
away if we eventually move to having the core MM manage device memory.

Ignore the central i915->kernel_context for allocating an engine, as
that GEM context is being phased out. For internal clients, we just need
the per-engine logical state, so allocate it at the point of use.

To maintain a fast lookup from a GT centric irq handler, we want the
engine lookup tables on the intel_gt. To avoid having multiple copies of
the same multi-dimension lookup table, move the generic user engine
lookup into an rbtree (for fast and flexible indexing).

The render state is used to initialise the default RCS context, and only
used during early setup from within the gt code. As such, it makes a
good candidate for placing within gt/, even if it is not yet entirely
clean of our GEM heritage.

Move the TypeC port handling functions to a new file for clarity.
While at it:
