Mac Michaels 80e27e2061 [PATCH] dvb: frontend: or51132: remove bogus optimization attempt
This fix has also been applied to lgdt330x. There is an optimization that
keeps track of the frequency tuned by the digital decoder. The digital driver
does not set the frequency if it has not changed since it was tuned. The
analog tuner driver knows nothing about the frequency saved by the digital
driver. When the frequency is set using the video4linux code with tvtime, the
hardware get changed but the digital driver's state does not get updated.
Switch back to the same digital channel and the driver finds no change in
frequency so the tuner is not reset to the digital frequency. The work around
is to remove the check and always set the tuner to the specified frequency.

Patrick Boettcher 593cbf3dcb [PATCH] dvb: frontend: stv0297: QAM128 tuning improvement
while investigating the QAM_128-issue with the stv0297-driver for the
Cablestar (which is not the same as the one in dvb-kernel CVS, yet), I fixed
it, not by increasing the timeout, but by disabling the corner-detection for
QAM_128 and higher.

This patch has been tested on dvb-kernel cvs, and has been reported to work by
multiple users. Some cards still need timeout increase on top of this patch.
This will be addressed later.

Michael Krufky dc9ca2af49 [PATCH] DVB: lgdt330x check callback fix
Most of the patch is whitespace cleanup, but more importantly, this patch
checks to see whether a callback is set before calling it. On cx88 boards
(currently the only boards using lgdt330x in 2.6.13) every callback is set.
However, newer drivers currently in development leave a callback undefined,
and lgdt330x must not call it if it isn't defined.

Michael Krufky 2684f5c74d [PATCH] DVB: Clarify description text for dvb-bt8xx in Kconfig
Patrick Keene wrote to the linux-dvb list, asking where in menuconfig he
can enable dvb-bt8xx for his AVerMedia DVB card. I pointed the following
out to him:

config DVB_BT8XX
       tristate "Nebula/Pinnacle PCTV/Twinhan PCI cards"

It has been agreed upon that this description is extremely misleading.

This patch changes the one-liner description text of dvb-bt8xx to something
more meaningful, and adds AVerMedia to the detailed description.

Jean Delvare fae91e72b7 [PATCH] I2C: Drop I2C_DEVNAME and i2c_clientname
I2C_DEVNAME and i2c_clientname were introduced in 2.5.68 [1] to help
media/video driver authors who wanted their code to be compatible with
both Linux 2.4 and 2.6. The cause of the incompatibility has gone since
[2], so I think we can get rid of them, as they tend to make the code
harder to read and longer to preprocess/compile for no more benefit.

I'd hope nobody seriously attempts to keep media/video driver compatible
across Linux trees anymore, BTW.

Jean Delvare 1684a98430 [PATCH] I2C: Kill i2c_algorithm.id (6/7)
In theory, there should be no more users of I2C_ALGO_* at this point.
However, it happens that several drivers were using I2C_ALGO_* for
adapter ids, so we need to correct these before we can get rid of all
the I2C_ALGO_* definitions.

Note that this also fixes a bug in media/video/tvaudio.c:

	/* don't attach on saa7146 based cards,
	   because dedicated drivers are used */
	if ((adap->id & I2C_ALGO_SAA7146))
		return 0;

This test was plain broken, as it would succeed for many more adapters
than just the saa7146: any those id would share at least one bit with
the saa7146 id. We are really lucky that the few other adapters we want
this driver to work with did not fulfill that condition.

Note that this change will slightly increase the size of the drivers

requirement if we want to merge i2c_probe and i2c_detect though, and
seems a reasonable price to pay in comparison with the previous

This patch removes the tda9887 stuff from lgdt330x.c. It's experimental code
which wasn't supposed to leak out and we don't want it in 2.6.13.

Mauro Carvalho Chehab 4dcef52400 [PATCH] v4l: oopsfix for BTTV on badly behaved PCI chipsets
no_overlay bttv parameter implemented to fix OOPS on some PCI chipsets
(like some VIA) with these behaviors:

1) If pci_quicks does identify the chip as having troubles to
   handle PCI2PCI transfers, no_overlay defaults to 1. The user may force
   it to 0, to reenable (not recommended).

2) For newer chipsets not blacklisted, no_overlay=1 is provided as a
   workaround until PCI chipset included on /drivers/pci/quirks.c

Mauro Carvalho Chehab fd3113e84e [PATCH] V4L: Miscellaneous fixes
- Fixed some bttv card numbers.

- BTTV and SAA7134 version numbers incremented to reflect changes.

- pci_dma_supported() is called after pci_set_dma_mask() which
  already did check that for us. This patch removes the unneeded call to
  pci_dma_supported() at bttv-driver.c

- Ensure a sufficient I2C bus idle time between 2 messages for
  saa7134-i2c.c

- It is important to write at first to MO_GP3_IO for cx88-tvaudio.c

- Use try_to_freeze() instead of refrigerator at msp3400.c

- Recognizing the MFPE05-2 Tuner at tveeprom.c

- Add new parameter to help identify radio chipsets at tuner module:
  show_i2c=1 will show 16 reading bytes from detected tuners.

- BTTV does generate some Unimplemented IOCTL log at tuner module:
  0x40046d11(dir=1,tp=0x6d,nr=17,sz=4) means that it is sending
  MSP3400 calls to non-msp3400 tuners. Warning eliminated.
  VIDIOSAUDIO is also called, so debug messages updated. It is still
  requiring IOCTL implementation.

- Added two more tuners.

- Add support for the SVideo input on the GDI Black Gold.

Jesper Juhl 77933d7276 [PATCH] clean up inline static vs static inline
`gcc -W' likes to complain if the static keyword is not at the beginning of
the declaration. This patch fixes all remaining occurrences of "inline
static" up with "static inline" in the entire kernel tree (140 occurrences in
47 files).

While making this change I came across a few lines with trailing whitespace
that I also fixed up, I have also added or removed a blank line or two here
and there, but there are no functional changes in the patch.

I am changing the name of this module now so that hopefully the name will

release 2.6.13 with the name lgdt3302 in it, which will only be renamed to

Michael Hunold 9d2599d98e [PATCH] v4l: fix tuning with MXB driver
I noticed that some past changes to the gerneric Video4Linux tuner module
for analog tuners broke my "Multimedia eXtension Board" driver.

The tuner driver was made aware of Video4Linux2 tuning ioctls, but my
driver was not ported and still uses the Video4Linux1 ioctls. This does
not work anymore as intendend, the tuning is currently broken.

The attached patch fixes non-working tuning in MXB driver introduced by
some recent generic tuner changes by replacing Video4Linux1 tuner ioctls
with proper Video4Linux2 tuner ioctls.

Gregory B Frost 9e00e48626 [PATCH] DVICO Fusion DVB-T1 Tuner (LG-Z201) fix
It is a small modification to the table that defines the way that the
LG-Z201 tuner is controlled for the DVICO Fusion DVB-T1 tuner card.

I believe that a mistake was made when the dvb tuner code was reorganised
(to use a generic table for the tuner information instead of inline code)
and as a result, the DVICO card doesn't tune properly.

The modification I have made to the table makes it behave like it did with
the old inline tuner code that worked. The patch is on top of the 2.6.12
kernel.

Patrick Boettcher 64221be7b9 [PATCH] dvb: flexcop: woraround irq stop problem
The flexcop chip often stops generating interrupts after some hours of
operation. Apparently this can be fixed by resetting register block 0x300 at
each channel change (this is not detailed in the flexcop data books).

This patch also restructures DMA handling and adds a bit of debug code for the
irq problem in case it still happens for someone.

Linus Torvalds 2031d0f586 Merge Christoph's freeze cleanup patch 2005-06-25 17:16:53 -07:00
Christoph Lameter 3e1d1d28d9 [PATCH] Cleanup patch for process freezing
1. Establish a simple API for process freezing defined in linux/include/sched.h:

   frozen(process)		Check for frozen process
   freezing(process) Check if a process is being frozen
   freeze(process) Tell a process to freeze (go to refrigerator)
   thaw_process(process)	Restart process
   frozen_process(process)	Process is frozen now

2. Remove all references to PF_FREEZE and PF_FROZEN from all
   kernel sources except sched.h

3. Fix numerous locations where try_to_freeze is manually done by a driver

4. Remove the argument that is no longer necessary from two function calls.

5. Some whitespace cleanup

6. Clear potential race in refrigerator (provides an open window of PF_FREEZE
   cleared before setting PF_FROZEN, recalc_sigpending does not check
   PF_FROZEN).

This patch does not address the problem of freeze_processes() violating the rule
that a task may only modify its own flags by setting PF_FREEZE. This is not clean
in an SMP environment. freeze(process) is therefore not SMP safe!

Mauro Carvalho Chehab 391cd727ea [PATCH] tuner-core.c improvments and Ymec Tvision TVF8533MF support
tuner-core.c, tuner.h:

- tuner-core changed to support multiple I2C devices used on some
  adapters;

- Kconfig now has an option (CONFIG_TUNER_MULTI_I2C) to enable this new
  behavor;

- By default, even enabling CONFIG_TUNER_MULTI_I2C, tuner-core emulates
  the old behavor, using first I2C device for both FM and TV;

- There is a new i2c command (TUNER_SET_ADDR) to allow tuner clients to
  select I2C address for FM or TV tuner;

- Tuner I2C dettach now generates a warning on syslog if failed.

tuner-simple.c:

- TVision TVF-8531MF and TVF-5533 MF tuner included. It uses, by
  default, I2C on 0xC2 address for TV and on 0xC0 for Radio. Both TV and

Jean Delvare 68cc9d0b71 [PATCH] I2C: Merge unused address lists in some video drivers
On top of my previous patch which removes the use of address ranges in
video i2c drivers, this one can save an additional few bytes of memory.
Most of these drivers which do not use I2C_CLIENT_INSMOD initialize the
unused address lists in a less than optimal way. This patch simply
optimizes this, by using a single one-element list instead of 3
different lists with two elements each.

This saves an average 63 bytes on these drivers.

Jean Delvare b3d5496ea5 [PATCH] I2C: Kill address ranges in non-sensors i2c chip drivers
Some months ago, you killed the address ranges mechanism from all
sensors i2c chip drivers (both the module parameters and the in-code
address lists). I think it was a very good move, as the ranges can
easily be replaced by individual addresses, and this allowed for
significant cleanups in the i2c core (let alone the impressive size
shrink for all these drivers).

Unfortunately you did not do the same for non-sensors i2c chip drivers.
These need the address ranges even less, so we could get rid of the
ranges here as well for another significant i2c core cleanup. Here comes
a patch which does just that. Since the process is exactly the same as
what you did for the other drivers set already, I did not split this one
in parts.

A documentation update is included.

The change saves 308 bytes in the i2c core, and an average 1382 bytes
for chip drivers which use I2C_CLIENT_INSMOD, 126 bytes for those which
do not.

This change is required if we want to merge the sensors and non-sensors
i2c code (and we want to do this).

Johannes Stezenbach 7635acd2d9 [PATCH] dvb: flexcop: fix USB transfer handling
- driver receives many null TS packets (pid=0x1fff). They occupy the
  limited USB bandwidth and this leads to loss of video packets. Enabling the
  null packet filter fixes this.

- packets that flexcop sends to USB have a 2 byte header that has to be
  removed.

- sometimes a TS packet is split between different urbs. These parts have
  to be combined in a temporary buffer.

In VIDIOC_S_FREQUENCY command in tuner-core.c, t->freq is set to a new

Manu Abraham fc9d53af37 [PATCH] bttv: fix dst i2c read/write timeout failure.
Attached is a patch to bttv which fixes the following problems.

Affected cards and problems:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
o VP-1020 (200103A) Tuning problems, device detection.
o VP-1020 (DST-MOT) Errors during tuning, device detection fails in a while.
o VP-1030 (DST-CI) Tuning sometimes fails after CI commands.
o VP-2031 (DCT-CI) Tuning problems
The timeout happens before the actual timeout occured in the MCU
on the board, and hence the problems.
Changes: (bttv-i2c.diff)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
o Changed the custom wait queue to wait_event_interruptible_timeout()
      - Suggestion by Johannes Stezenbach.

o Fixed the wait queue timeout problem
      - This fixes the timeout problem on various cards.
      - This problem was visible as many
          * Cannot tune to channels, when signal levels are very low.
          * app_info does not work in some conditions for CI based cards
      - Smaller values worked good for newer cards, but the older cards
suffered, settled down to the worst case values that could happen in any
eventuality.

Peter Missel 6c9e7376be [PATCH] LifeView FlyTV Platinum FM: GPIO usage
This is take two of a patch that should have appeared two days ago, before
yesterday's "remote control" patch for the same card.

This patch sets unconnected GPIO to Output to keep them from floating (just
good driver writing practice, being nice to the chip), and uses GPIO16 to
switch TV vs. FM - this pin switches inputs onto the tuner, as well as the
audio output from the tuner into the 7135 SIF input. Consequently, FM
radio support is being un-commented because it's now working (sort of, see
below).

These two patches get the card almost fully operational; there appears to
be a bug in tda8290.c remaining that puts an offset onto the tuned
frequency in FM radio mode. We're investigating.

Linus Torvalds 1da177e4c3 Linux-2.6.12-rc2
Initial git repository build. I'm not bothering with the full history,
even though we have it. We can create a separate "historical" git
archive of that later if we want to, and in the meantime it's about
3.2GB when imported into git - space that would just make the early
git days unnecessarily complicated, when we don't have a lot of good
infrastructure for it.

Let it rip!
