Jarod Wilson a52ad514fd net: deprecate eth_change_mtu, remove usage
With centralized MTU checking, there's nothing productive done by
eth_change_mtu that isn't already done in dev_set_mtu, so mark it as
deprecated and remove all usage of it in the kernel. All callers have been
audited for calls to alloc_etherdev* or ether_setup directly, which means
they all have a valid dev->min_mtu and dev->max_mtu. Now eth_change_mtu
prints out a netdev_warn about being deprecated, for the benefit of
out-of-tree drivers that might be utilizing it.

Of note, dvb_net.c actually had dev->mtu = 4096, while using
eth_change_mtu, meaning that if you ever tried changing it's mtu, you
couldn't set it above 1500 anymore. It's now getting dev->max_mtu also set
to 4096 to remedy that.

Sylwester Nawrocki a96d3b7593 dm9000: Fix irq trigger type setup on non-dt platforms
Commit b5a099c67a "net: ethernet: davicom: fix devicetree irq
resource" causes an interrupt storm after the ethernet interface
is activated on S3C24XX platform (ARM non-dt), due to the interrupt
trigger type not being set properly.

It seems, after adding parsing of IRQ flags in commit 7085a7401b
"drivers: platform: parse IRQ flags from resources", there is no path
for non-dt platforms where irq_set_type callback could be invoked when
we don't pass the trigger type flags to the request_irq() call.

In case of a board where the regression is seen the interrupt trigger
type flags are passed through a platform device's resource and it is
not currently handled properly without passing the irq trigger type
flags to the request_irq() call. In case of OF an of_irq_get() call
within platform_get_irq() function seems to be ensuring required irq_chip
setup, but there is no equivalent code for non OF/ACPI platforms.

This patch mostly restores irq trigger type setting code which has been
removed in commit ("net: ethernet: davicom: fix devicetree irq resource").

Robert Jarzmik b5a099c67a net: ethernet: davicom: fix devicetree irq resource
The dm9000 driver doesn't work in at least one device-tree
configuration, spitting an error message on irq resource :
[    1.062495] dm9000 8000000.ethernet: insufficient resources
[    1.068439] dm9000 8000000.ethernet: not found (-2).
[    1.073451] dm9000: probe of 8000000.ethernet failed with error -2

The reason behind is that the interrupt might be provided by a gpio
controller, not probed when dm9000 is probed, and needing the probe
deferral mechanism to apply.

Currently, the interrupt is directly taken from resources. This patch
changes this to use the more generic platform_get_irq(), which handles
the deferral.

Moreover, since commit Fixes: 7085a7401b ("drivers: platform: parse
IRQ flags from resources"), the interrupt trigger flags are honored in
platform_get_irq(), so remove the needless code in dm9000.

Linus Torvalds e6b5be2be4 Driver core patches for 3.19-rc1
Here's the set of driver core patches for 3.19-rc1.

 They are dominated by the removal of the .owner field in platform

 removing a line in a structure.

 Other than that, a few minor driver core and debugfs changes. There are
 some ath9k patches coming in through this tree that have been acked by
 the wireless maintainers as they relied on the debugfs changes.

Andrew Ruder 17ad78de7f dm9000: clean up edge-triggered irq compatibility
DM9000 uses level-triggered interrupts. Some systems (PXA270) only
support edge-triggered interrupts on GPIOs. Some changes are necessary
to ensure that interrupts are not triggered while the GPIO interrupt is
masked or we will miss the interrupt forever.

* Make some helper functions called dm9000_mask_interrupts() and
  dm9000_unmask_interrupts() for readability.

* dm9000_init_dm9000(): ensure that this function always leaves interrupts
  masked regardless of the state when it entered the function. This is
  primarily to support the situation in dm9000_open where the logic used
  to go:

    dm9000_open()
        dm9000_init_dm9000()
            unmask interrupts
        request_irq()

  If an interrupt occurred between unmasking the interrupt and
  requesting the irq, it would be missed forever as the edge event would
  never be seen by the GPIO hardware in the PXA270. This allows us to
  change the logic to:

    dm9000_open()
        dm9000_init_dm9000()
            dm9000_mask_interrupts()
        request_irq()
        dm9000_unmask_interrupts()

* dm9000_timeout(), dm9000_drv_resume(): Add the missing
  dm9000_unmask_interrupts() now required by the change above.

* dm9000_shutdown(): Use mask helper function

* dm9000_interrupt(): Use mask/unmask helper functions

* Change a hard-coded 0x3 to NCR_RST | NCR_MAC_LBK in dm9000_reset

  was called immediately before-hand. Bring dm9000_reset into
  dm9000_init_dm9000.

* The following commit updated the dm9000_probe reset routine to use NCR_RST
  | NCR_MAC_LBK:

    6741f40 DM9000B: driver initialization upgrade

  and a later commit added a bug-fix to always reset the chip twice:

    09ee9f8 dm9000: Implement full reset of DM9000 network device

  Unfortunately, since the changes in 6741f40 were made by replacing the
  dm9000_probe dm9000_reset with the adjusted iow(), the changes in
  09ee9f8 were not incorporated into the dm9000_probe reset.
  Furthermore, it bypassed the requisite reset-delay causing some boards
  to get at least one "read wrong id ..." dev_err message during

Ben Hutchings a1606c7dc6 net: Move MII out from under NET_CORE and hide it
All drivers that select MII also need to select NET_CORE because MII
depends on it. This is a bit ridiculous because NET_CORE is just a
menu option that doesn't enable any code by itself.

There is also no need for it to be a visible option, since its users
all select it.

The driver core clears the driver data to NULL after device_release

Thus, it is not needed to manually clear the device driver data to NULL.

So need extra change in initialization, For
explicity PHY Reset and PHY init parameter, and
first DM9000_NCR reset need NCR_MAC_LBK bit by dm9000_probe().

Following DM9000_NCR reset cause by dm9000_open() clear the

Matthew Leach daadaf6f69 net: dm9000: use io{read,write}*_rep accessors
The {read,write}s{b,w,l} operations are not defined by all
architectures and are being removed from the asm-generic/io.h
interface.

This patch replaces the usage of these string functions in the default
DM9000 accessors with io{read,write}{8,16,32}_rep calls instead. This
is required as the dm9000 driver is in use by the blackfin
architecture which uses the asm-generic io accessors.

Jeff Kirsher aaba215ca0 MII: fix Kconfig dependencies for MII
MII Kconfig option is apart of the core networking drivers and
by default NET_CORE is enabled so drivers selecting MII will
have MII enabled as well. It was found using the randconfig
option during testing, MII would be selected but NET_CORE
could be disabled. This caused a dependency error.

Resolved the dependency by selecting NET_CORE when MII is
selected.
