SR-IOV need to exchange some data between PF&VF through shared VRAM
PF will copy some necessary firmware and information to the shared
VRAM. It also requires some information from VF. PF will send a
key through mailbox2 to help guest calculate checksum so that it can
verify whether the data is correct.
So check the data on the specified offset of the shared VRAM, if the
checksum is right, read values from it and write some VF information
next to the data from PF.

Programming CP_HQD_QUEUE_PRIORITY enables a queue to take priority over
other queues on the same pipe. Multiple queues on a pipe are timesliced
so this gives us full precedence over other queues.
Programming CP_HQD_PIPE_PRIORITY changes the SPI_ARB_PRIORITY of the
wave as follows:
0x2: CS_H
0x1: CS_M
0x0: CS_L
The SPI block will then dispatch work according to the policy set by
SPI_ARB_PRIORITY. In the current policy CS_H is higher priority than
gfx.
In order to prevent getting stuck in loops of resources bouncing between
GFX and high priority compute and introducing further latency, we
statically reserve a portion of the pipe.

Initial pull request for DC support. We've completed a substantial amount of
the cleanup and restructuring in our TODO. There are a few additional
cleanups that we are continuing to work on, but I don't think there are any
showstoppers remaining. We've tried to maintain most of the history for bisect
purposes. Harry made sure all the commits build. We've enabled DC for vega10
and Raven. Pre-vega10 parts can be enabled via module parameter (amdgpu.dc=1),
but are not enabled by default at this point until we get further testing
upstream.
This code provides atomic modesetting support for DCE8 (CIK), DCE10 (Tonga,
Fiji), DCE11 (CZ, ST, Polaris), DCE12 (vega10), and DCN1 (RV) including
HDMI and DP audio, DP MST, and many other advanced display features.

Latest cleanups for DC from you and Harry. Note that there is some
flickering on some older asics with this branch due to a regression in powerplay
that has already been fixed and will be included in my next non-DC pull request

contains the VBIOS itself. These won't change after initialization,
so we can add the VBIOS version when we parse the atombios information.
This ensures that we can find out the VBIOS version, even when the dmesg
buffer fills up, and makes it easier to associate which VBIOS version is
for which GPU on mGPU configurations. Set the size to 20 characters in

Use an LRU policy to map usermode rings to HW compute queues.
Most compute clients use one queue, and usually the first queue
available. This results in poor pipe/queue work distribution when
multiple compute apps are running. In most cases pipe 0 queue 0 is
the only queue that gets used.
In order to better distribute work across multiple HW queues, we adopt
a policy to map the usermode ring ids to the LRU HW queue.
This fixes a large majority of multi-app compute workloads sharing the
same HW queue, even though 7 other queues are available.

amdgpu_device_resume() & amdgpu_device_init() have a high
time consuming call of amdgpu_late_init() which sets the
clock_gating state of all IP blocks and is blocking.
This patch defers only this setting of clock gating state
operation to post resume of amdgpu driver but ideally before
the UI comes up or in some cases post ui as well.
With this change the resume time of amdgpu_device comes down
from 1.299s to 0.199s which further helps in reducing the overall
system resume time.
V1: made the optimization applicable during driver load as well.

An external Thunderbolt GPU can neither drive the laptop's panel nor be
powered off by the platform, so there's no point in registering it with
vga_switcheroo. In fact, when the external GPU is runtime suspended,
vga_switcheroo will cut power to the internal discrete GPU, resulting in
a lockup. Moreover AMD's Windows driver special-cases Thunderbolt as
well.

Since commit 8a357d1004 ("drm: Nerf DRM_CONTROL nodes"), a
struct drm_device's ->control member is always NULL.
In the case of CONFIG_DEBUG_FS=y, amdgpu_debugfs_add_files() accesses
->control->debugfs_root though. This results in a NULL pointer
dereference.
Fix this by omitting the drm_debugfs_create_files() call for the
control minor debugfs directory which is now non-existent anyway.

are initialized properly before we run asic_init which happens before
DCE IPs are restored.

Sometimes during multiple reboots, the system hangs
during bootup. The issue is very random and happens
once in around 50 reboots or so.
It seems if clockgating is enabled before late init,
the GFX engine sometimes does not respond.
This patch changes the ordering a little so that
both powergating and clockgating are enabled only
after late init calls.

The old mechanism used a per-submission limit that didn't take previous
submissions within the same time frame into account. It also filled VRAM
slowly when VRAM usage dropped due to a big eviction or buffer deallocation.
This new method establishes a configurable MBps limit that is obeyed when
VRAM usage is very high. When VRAM usage is not very high, it gives
the driver the freedom to fill it quickly. The result is more consistent
performance.
It can't keep the BO move rate low if lots of evictions are happening due
to VRAM fragmentation, or if a big buffer is being migrated.
The amdgpu.moverate parameter can be used to set a non-default limit.
Measurements can be done to find out which amdgpu.moverate setting gives
the best results.
Mainly APUs and cards with small VRAM will benefit from this. For F1 2015,
anything with 2 GB VRAM or less will benefit.
Some benchmark results - F1 2015 (Tonga 2GB):
Limit MinFPS AvgFPS
Old code: 14 32.6
128 MB/s: 28 41
64 MB/s: 15.5 43
32 MB/s: 28.7 43.4
8 MB/s: 27.8 44.4
8 MB/s: 21.9 42.8 (different run)
Random drops in Min FPS can still occur (due to fragmented VRAM?), but
the average FPS is much better. 8 MB/s is probably a good limit for this
game & the current VRAM management. The random FPS drops are still to be
tackled.

Just about all of amdgpu's connector probing functions try to acquire
runtime PM refs. If we try to do this in the context of
amdgpu_resume_kms by calling drm_helper_hpd_irq_event(), we end up
deadlocking the system.
Since we're guaranteed to be holding the spinlock for RPM in
amdgpu_resume_kms, and we already know the GPU is in working order, we
need to prevent the RPM helpers from trying to run during the initial
connector reprobe on resume.
There's a couple of solutions I've explored for fixing this, but this
one by far seems to be the simplest and most reliable (plus I'm pretty
sure that's what disable_depth is there for anyway).
Reproduction recipe:
- Get any laptop dual GPUs using PRIME
- Make sure runtime PM is enabled for amdgpu
- Boot the machine
- If the machine managed to boot without hanging, switch out of X to
another VT. This should definitely cause X to hang infinitely.
Changes since v1:
- add appropriate #ifdef checks for CONFIG_PM. This is not very
useful, but it appears some kernel test suites test compiling amdgpu
with CONFIG_PM disabled, which results in this patch breaking the builds
if we don't include this #ifdef

V2: Add wait_for_mc_idle after stopping fb access
V3:
1. Remove resume fb access since there is no need to
do that for gpu reset.
2. Move stop fb access to amdgpu_gpu_reset function,
since it's the same for all asics.

On workstation cards with ECC vram, the entirety of vram is cleared to 0
on asic init to set the ECC status correctly. On non ECC boards, I don't
think they do any explicit clearing, but the vram controller is reset
which may cause issues with the data there.

When executing in a PCI passthrough based virtuzliation environemnt, the
hypervisor will usually attempt to send a PCIe bus reset signal to the
ASIC when the VM reboots. In this scenario, the card is not correctly
initialized, but we still consider it to be posted. Therefore, in a
passthrough based environemnt we should always post the card to guarantee
it is in a good state for driver initialization.
However, if we are operating in SR-IOV mode it is up to the GIM driver
to manage the asic state, therefore we should not post the card (and
shouldn't be able to do it either).
